  • Melamine is a cost effective, durable material that is bonded to MDF. It comes in a wide range of colours, woodgrains and finishes predominantly matte.

Acrylic is a gloss or matte product is also bonded to MDF. When choosing a dark colour this would be the preferred material due to its finger print resistant properties. It is typically more expensive than melamine.

Lacquer is a premium finish and one that is suited to profile doors such a shaker and v groove. Colours can be customised to any paint colour – so options are limitless. Generally more expensive due to the labour-intensive application process and quality.

  • As “shaker” is a profile door it requires a lacquered finish which is more expensive than other materials. With smart design & experience  we can limit these expenses to suit a realistic budget. Lacquer does have a longer lead time so this is something to bear in mind.
